She added: “In Lagos alone, six winners emerged with two other consolation prize winners while regulators, customers are witnessing the same ceremony outside Lagos where other 25 scholarship winners were being presented with their cash prizes simultaneously.
“Today we have six scholarship winners and we have two people winning N500,000 each and four people for N210,000. And the people who for one reason or the other are not present here, their own presentation ceremony will take place in their branches across the country. This presentation ceremony is being replicated in the six geo-political zones and 31 winners are having their cash prizes presented to them today across the country.”
Meanwhile, the General Manager, Victoria Island Regional Bank, Emeka Obiagwu, promised that there would always be draw at the end of every month and winners will emerge.
As the bank is giving out N12.7 million to its customers, he said this will continue until the bank exhausts to the total N80 million earmarked for the promo, excluding the consolation prizes.
Speaking at the event, a retired Customs officer, Mrs. Fadeke Adigun, who won N500,000 thanked the bank for its generosity and the level of transparency involved in the promo.
Mrs. Adigun who branded the promo as fraud when contacted by the bank earlier, described the money she won as part of her retirement benefits.
She explained: “I got a retirement cheque from Customs, Immigrations and Prisons Pension Office (CIPPO). Since Fidelity Bank issued the retirement cheque, I decided to open an account with the bank. If not for the cheque, I wouldn’t have won N500,000 and have an account with Fidelity Bank.”
