Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ), said it has concluded arrangements to encourage women to key into the Transformation Agenda of the Federal Government.
WIMBIZ said it will empower women to tap into and contribute to Nigeria’s growth and development in its 2014 annual conference, themed “Nigeria Rising … Accelerating Transformation,” and bill to hold between November 3 and 4 at the Zinnia Hall, Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to the Chairperson of WIMBIZ, Osayi Alile, the two-day conference seeks to examine the possibilities and opportunities in Nigeria and provide insights on the role of citizens, particularly women, in achieving and accelerating the identified prospects.
“In addition, participants will be equipped with tools and skills to harness and take advantage of the opportunities in the new Nigeria,” Alile said.
“The conference primarily targets women in the private and public sectors, but they also reach out to men that are sensitive to gender issues and are committed to elevating the profile and influence of women in Nigeria. Alile, who noted that WIMBIZ is a non-profit organisation established by 14 individuals in 2002, said: “Our vision is to be the catalyst that elevates the status and influence of women and their contribution to nation-building in Nigeria.
“This vision derives from our concerns about gender inequalities in the workplace and businesses and we have promoted our vision through various initiatives – lectures, conferences, mentoring, training, outreaches – at which women meet other women to dialogue on issues that militates against women achieving their full potential,” she said.
