TUC condemns illegal strike in Osun

by magna / Friday, 17 April 2015 / Published in Capital Market News

Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has condemned the illegal strike action carried out by the immediate past Chairman of TUC in Osun State, comrade Oladele Adetunji against the Government of the State on Tuesday 14th of April, 2015.

While restraining Adetunji from parading himself as state Chairman, the Congress in a statement signed by its President, Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama and Secretary General Comrade (Barr.) Musa Lawal also warned the state government and the general public of having anything to do with him.

Part of the statement read:”Adetunji was TUC Chairman in the State of Osun until 6th of March, 2014 when a new executive committee under the chairmanship of Comrade Akinyemi Olatunji was elected. Incidentally this was after Adetunji had unlawfully extended his tenure in office for two extra years after the three years allowed by the Constitution of TUC”.

The Congress finds Adetunji’s unruly behaviour totally reprehensible and deserving of comprehensive punishment under the law, stressing that never in the history of the Congress has any individual or group portraying themselves as members of the Congress, stooped so despicably low as to hire stern-looking armed thugs to physically assault innocent people including fellow workers as well as journalists whose video camera they even confiscated.
