Shell’s deepwater subsidiary in Nigeria, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company, says it has extended its Community Health Insurance Scheme to Anambra State, with the recent inauguration of the initiative at the Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital.
The scheme, in a statement by the firm on Sunday, was being executed in partnership with the Anambra State Government, the Idemili CHIS Board, and two Health Maintenance Organisations – Proserve and Avon.
The Managing Director, SNEPCo, Mr. Tony Attah, who was represented at the inauguration by the company’s Business Relations Manager, Mr. Kanu Ijere, said, “The initiative will increase healthcare access for the people, particularly women and children who form a large percentage of healthcare seekers.”
The inauguration was said to have been preceded by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Iyi-Enu Hospital and the two HMOs, and witnessed by the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nathan Ojekwu, the Catholic Bishop of the Niger, Rt. Rev Owen Nwokolo, among others.
