In a bid to put square pegs in square holes, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) have approved the redeployment of some senior management staff of the Agency. This comes few days after the Acting Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Mr. Haruna Baba Jauro assumed office.
The deployment exercise has Mr. Ibrahim Jibril as the Director of Administration and Personnel Services department, Mr. Felix Bob Nabena is Director of SERVICOM, Mr Olayemi Abass takes over as the Head of Financial Services department, Mr. Suleman Abdulsalam is the Ag. Legal Adviser, Mr. Mohammed Sani is the Head of Procurement department while Hassan el-Yakub is Head of Cabotage Department.
Similarly, Hajia Lami Tumaka is now the Deputy Director/Head of Public Relations, Aisha Musa has been redeployed to Head the Western Zone, Mr. Isichei Osamgbi is Deputy Director, Maritime Guard Command, Mr. Dele Ejekuko is in charge of Zones in the DG’s Office and Mr. Eric Orji is the Acting Registrar of Ships.
“The new postings are expected to reposition the Agency towards meeting its statutory mandate as enshrined in the NIMASA Act and other enabling instruments,” Jauro said.
All handing and taking over processes have since been concluded and the Directors settled in their new postings.
The new Head of the Financial Services Department, Mr. Olayemi Abass is a 1988 HND holder in Accounting with an M.Sc in Contemporary Accounting from the Leeds Metropolitan University. He is also a member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria. He has held several positions in the Agency including Deputy Director Finance, Coordinator of the Eastern Zonal Office of NIMASA and more recently was in charge of Zonal Coordination in the DG’s Office.
Hajia Lami Tumaka, the current head of Public Relations has served in this capacity in two previous occasions. A 1979 graduate of English, Hajia Tumaka also holds a diploma in Public Relations and an MBA in Business Management. The Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (FNIPR) brings to bear on this assignment, about three decades cognate experience in journalism, public relations and management.
