There are strong indications that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), will finally park out of its Zone 7 Abuja Glass House into the new Sunday Dankaro House secretariat by the second quarter of this year.
The new secretariat, which was commissioned in 2014 during the tenure of Alhaji Aminu Maigari, had faced one controversial circumstances or the other.
Although the federation had repeatedly picked fresh date for the relocation, a source at the Glass House told SportingSun in confidence that with the level of renovation going on in the new building, there was no reason they should not relocate to the Sunday Dankaro football house latest second quarter of this year.
“It is true that so much has been said about the new secretariat, especially the anxiety over the relocation. As you can see, renovation work is still ongoing there and though there is still scarcity of fund, I am very sure that we will park into the secretariat latest the second quarter this year. We are expectedly looking at June,” he said.
Similarly, the General Secretary of the federation, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi said the just concluded Africa Nations Cup had afforded the federation the opportunity to get first-hand information and knowledge of the FIFA World Cup group opponents.
According to him: “It was painful that the Super Eagles did not participate in AFCON tournament. Yes, every team, including Algeria that did not do well in the tournament is still a big threat, but the good thing is that the tournament has given us the opportunity to have first-hand knowledge of the teams in our group.”
“I am very happy that our technical adviser was invited as a pundit for the competition. When he wrote requesting for permission to honour the invitation, we did not waste time in accepting because, it will also give him the opportunity to appraise the technicalities of our opponents individually and collectively.
“Some of us observing outside the pitch of play have been able to access the teams very well to know who is who among the players. By and large, we will say that the tournament has afforded us the opportunity to know more about the opponents in our group,” he said.
