There are indications that all may not be well at Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) over the delay in handing over to the substantive Director General of NCAA, Capt Usman Mukhtar  by the Acting Director General of NCAA, Engr Benedict Adeyileka despite a letter from the Presidency  to that effect.

Daily Independent gathered that the Presidency had written a letter to the Aviation Ministry headed by the Minister of Aviation, Mr Osita Chidoka on the issue but that the content of the letter from the Presidency has not been respected.

It was further learnt that the letter had reached the Ministry, but the Acting Director General is yet to get the letter, a situation a  regulatory body source said has been delaying the hand over,  three weeks after the substantive DG was confirmed.

A source close to the agency who spoke under the condition of anonymity, told Daily Independent that the staff have been waiting for the new DG to resume immediately he was sworn in, but that they are surprised that up this moment he has not taken over the mantle of leadership.

The source added that it is only the Federal Government that can say what is going on.

“We don’t know anything.  We are ready to work with anybody that comes .It is the government that can explain why the DG has not resume” said

Usman was confirmed on September 30, 2014, by the Senate as the Director-General of NCAA.

His confirmation followed the submission of the report of the screening exercise by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Aviation, Senator Hope Uzodinma.
