Franco German tactician, Gernot Rohr continued his fine run with the Super Eagles as his wards recorded an emphatic 3-0 victory over Togo in last night’s international friendly decided at the Stade Municipal de Saint Leu La Foret, Paris.
The victory is coming six days after the Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by the France tiny Island, Corsica.
Yesterday’s outing was one in which Rohr tried out some of the new legs he called up for next weekend’s AFCON 2019 qualifier against South Africa in Uyo.
The quartet of Henry Onyekuru, Tyronne Ebuehi, Kayode Olarewaju and Dele Alampasu came in as second half subs in the game which the Eagles dominated from start to finish. Germany based Victor Osimhen also tasted action as he stepped in for Musa.
It was however the “big boys” in the youthful Eagles side that delivered the goods in the tune up game with Ahmed Musa getting a brace. Musa was first on target in the 3rd minute when he slotted home from close range after Togo’s keeper Alassani spilled Alex Iwobi’s cross.
The Leicester City forward was again on target in the 17th minute courtesy of another Iwobi’s assist.
Kelechi Iheanacho compounded Togo’s woes in the 27th minute with an easy tap in after combining well with Oghenekaro Etebor.
Apparently satisfied with the 3-0 first half lead, the Eagles returned in the second half to take things easy, with Rohr drafting in the new comers into the squad.
The Eagles are billed to fly into Abuja early next week and would from the nation’s capital hit Uyo for the June 10 clash against South Africa.
