The Nigerian bourse which opened the week in green on Monday also closed on a positive note of Friday as the equities market closed at N10.203 trillion from N10.111 trillion recorded on Thursday after it appreciated by N92.192 billion or 0.91 per cent.
Market Capitalisation closed at N10.203 trillion on Friday from N9.699 trillion it recorded on Friday September 11, 2105. This represent a gain of N504 billion or 5.19 per cent week on week.
A turnover of 1.408 billion shares worth N13.508 billion in 19,950 deals were traded last week by investors on the floor of The Exchange in contrast to a total of 2.440 billion shares valued at N21.071 billion that exchanged hands in 22,736 deals the previous week.
The financial services Industry , measured by volume, led the activity chart with 1.158 billion shares valued at N8.632 billion traded in 11,999 deals; thus contributing 82.24 per cent and 63.90 per cent to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
The conglomerates industry followed with a turnover of 87.035 million shares worth N474.658 million in 946 deals. The third place was occupied by the ICT Industry with 49.822 million shares worth N28.897 million in 50 deals.
Trading in the top Three Equities namely – United Bank for Africa Plc.; Zenith International Bank Plc and Diamond Bank Plc, measured by volume, accounted for 588.314 million shares worth N4.667 billion in 4,235 deals, contributing 41.77 per cent and 34.55 per cent to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
Also traded during the week were a total of 1,526 units of Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) valued at N695,885.40 million executed in 17 deals compared with a total of 11,357 units valued at N5.868 million transacted last week in 24 deals.
The NSE All-Share Index and Market Capitalization appreciated by 0.60 per cent and 0.54 per cent to close on Friday at 29,689.08 and N10.204 trillion respectively.
