Berger Paints appoints Folikwe as MD

Berger Paints Nigeria Plc has announced the appointment of Mr. Peter Bababunmi Folikwe as its new Managing Director, a statement from the company said.

According to the statement, Folikwe brings over 24 years of experience in marketing, sales/distribution and general management to the board; having worked in a number of top-rated companies in Nigeria across a number of sectors in varied capacities.

The Chairman, Board of Directors, Berger Paints, Dr. Oladimeji Alo, was quoted as saying Folikwe was appointed MD after a rigorous selection process.

He added, “He (Folikwe) brings with him, a great depth of knowledge and experience in manufacturing, telecommunications and fast-moving consumer goods environments.

“I am delighted, on behalf of the Board, to welcome Peter to the Berger Paints family. It is an incredibly exciting time at Berger Paints as we go into the final phase of the setting up of our modern factory, which will be the first of its kind in West Africa.”

According to the statement, the new Berger Paints MD views is appointment as an opportunity to build on the legacy the company had created over the years.

He said, “Berger Paints continues to be a market leader. I am looking forward to providing visionary leadership to the management team with the objective of delivering sustainable value to all the company’s stakeholders, by God’s grace.”

Folikwe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Benin.

Prior to the appointment, the statement said, he was the General Manager, Sales and Distribution, UAC Foods Limited – a joint venture between UAC of Nigeria and Tiger Brands SA.

Before then he was the Sales and Marketing Director at Vitafoam Nigeria Plc. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Direct Marketing, a member of the Nigeria Institute of Marketing, Alumnus of Lagos Business School and Alumnus of Cranfield University Bedford, UK.
