AVIATION unions on Tuesday disrupted activities at the Lagos airport as they protested the huge debt owed aviation paratatals by indigenous carrier, Arik Air.
They also issued a seven-day ultimatum to the airline to settle all its debts failing which they would halt all services rendered to the airline.
Under the aegis of the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) and the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), the unions said the debt profile of Arik Air put at about N25 billion had crippled the industry’s service delivery.
ATSSSAN President, Mr. Benjamin Okewu, who addressed the protesters said despite several entreaties, the airline had refused to service its debt.
