Dr Angela Ajodo, a lecturer at the Department of Political Science, Federal University, Lafia, says women are the driving force of every economy.
Ajodo, who said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia on Friday, therefore urged them to embrace different skills acquisition programmes in order to become self reliant.
“The Federal, state governments and some wealthy individuals had established different skills acquisition programmes in order to fight the high rate of youth restiveness and unemployment.
“There is high rate of unemployment in the couutry, and the situation has degenerated to anti-social activities such as violent crimes, insecurity, armed robbery, drug and human trafficking.
“I therefore call on Nigerians, especially women and youths, to acquire skills such as soap making, tailoring and fashion designing, interior decorations, catering, radio and TV repairs and plumbing.
“Other skills include;hair dressing, pomade and jelly making , hair shampoo and air freshener and perfume making,’’ he said.
