The stock market closed yesterday with a gain of 0.27 per cent largely driven by share price gains of capitalised stocks led by Presco, Okomu Oil, PZ Cussons, among other equities.

The market capitalisation which opened at N9.919 trillion increased by N27 billion or 0.27 per cent, to close at N9.946 trillion.

Similarly, the All-Share Index rose by 0.27 per cent or 79.89 points to close at 29,859.06 from the 29,779.17 achieved on Monday.

Presco recorded the highest price gain of N1.55 to close at N32.66 per share. Okomu Oil trailed with a gain of N1.32 to close at N27 while PZ Cussons gained by N1.25 to close at N26.25 per share. Flour mill was up by N1.08 to close at N39.80 while Stanbic IBTC appreciated by N1 to close at N27 per share.

On the other hand, Nestle led the losers’ chart by N5.15 to close at N825 per share. MRS shed N2.66 to close at N50.54 while Forte Oil declined by N2 to close at N225 per share. Conoil depreciated by N1.90 to close at N36.21 while Seven Up went down by N1 to close at N161 per share.

The volume of shares traded yesterday increased by 77.44 per cent as investors exchanged a total of 468.182 million shares worth N4.68 billion in 4,346 deals as against the 263.858 million shares valued at N3.87 billion traded in 3,568 deals on Monday.

Fidelity Bank emerged as the investors’ delight, accounting for 156.25 million shares worth N203.07 million.

Access Bank exchanged 102.19 million shares valued at N548.47 million, while Diamond Bank sold 20.02 million shares worth N152.12 million.FBN Holdings traded 20.34 million valued at N152.12 million and Unilever sold 18.33 million worth N613.08 million.
