Slot systems Ltd, owners of online and offline retail stores) has unveiled Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, also known as D’banj as its new brand ambassador.
According to Slot Group Managing Director, Mr. Nnamdi Ezeigbo, the event is in celebration of partnership of two great brands, SLOT and D’banj.

“As you all know D’banj is a singer-songwriter, harmonica player, and businessman. He has won several music awards, including the awards for Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2007, Artist of the Year at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2009,Best International Act: Africa at the 2011 BET Awards, Best-selling African Artist at the 2014 World Music Awards, and Evolution award at the 2015 MTV Africa Music awards”.
Ezeigbo added that D’banj is the founder of Koko Foundation for Youth and Peace Development.
“He is also Nigeria’s first United Nations Youth Ambassador for Peace. Dbanj is a ONE campaign ambassador; he released the song “Cocoa Na Chocolate” in support of agriculture investments. ‘Cocoa Na Chocolate’ featured 18 other African artists and won Best African Collaboration at the All Africa Music Awards in 2014. He was recently applauded by World Bank Chief, Jim Yong Kim for using his music power and high celebrity status to bring attention to serious and critical issues in Africa with special focus on agriculture and poverty alleviation. These achievements and many others have certainly not gone unnoticed, and that is why after careful considerations, we at Slot Systems Limited, has deemed it fit to appoint this great brand and personality as our brand ambassador”
He disclosed that there is a mutual understanding and benefits to the company, in the sense that it authenticates the company’s products since the Ambassador is an household name.

Tecno partners Africa Magic in talent hunt
Tecno Mobile, in collaboration with Africa Magic has commenced talent hunt in Nigeria, Kenya and Tanzania, aimed at producing music stars from Africa, under the brand name, Tecno Own the Stage karaoke Competition.

According to both companies, The competition will search and select talented karaoke singers from across the three African countries that will compete for a prize pool of $50, 000 and opportunity to record a song and go on tour with a renowned musical act.
Commenting on the talent hunt, General Manager, Mobile Apps, Tecno Mobile, Mr. Oye Akideinde, said the competition would be open to all from 18 years and above, from where five persons will be shortlisted from each of the three countries. The 15 shortlisted people will be subjected to talent hunt competition that will produce three winners at the end of the day. The first prize winner will go home with $25,000, a Tecno Phantom 5 mobile device and the opportunity to record a song and go on tour with a renowned musical act. The second prize winner will be awarded $15,000, a Tecno Phantom 5 mobile device, and three months internship opportunity with renowned record label.
The third prize winner will be rewarded with $10,000 and a a Tecno Phantom 5 mobile device.

To enter the competition, a prospective contestant has to visit the Tecno ‘Own the Stage website’ to select a track from the track list. The contestant thereafter records a karaoke rendition and uploads the track via the submission form on the website. The uploaded track is then subjected to a review by the judges who select the top entries with successful entrants notified directly. Qualified entrants will then have to go through an audition phase to get an opportunity to perform their craft, televised on Africa Magic.
Mr. Jude Abaga, popularly known and M.I Yemi Alade and Bien of Sauti Sol, have been unveiled as the judges for the talent hunt that will run till February next year.
According to M.I who is a song writer and rapper, said, “The Tecno Own the Stage competition is an exciting development for talented and prospective singers from across Africa. Karaoke, as a form of entertainment has been around for as long as the practice of recording music itself. There a lot of talented individuals who have been waiting for an opportunity to show their talents to the world and Tecno Own the Stage, gives them more than an opportunity, but also a platform and befitting prizes to go with it. The Tecno Own the Stage premieres on Africa Magic on the 25th of October 2015 and will be broadcast on Africa Magic Showcase (DStv 151). The winner will be unveiled at a grand finale in February, 2016.
