President Goodluck Jonathan, on Monday, approved the appointment of immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi chairman of the capital market apex regulatory agency – the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The President, according to a statement by his spokesman, Reuben Abati, equally approved the confirmation of Mounir Haliru Gwarzo as Director-General of the commission.
Gwarzo, who has been acting as Director-General of the Commission, was appointed to the Board of the Securities and Exchange Commission as Executive Commissioner in January 2013.
He replaces Ms. Arunma Oteh, whose five-year tenure at the SEC ended in December.
The statement which was however silent on the fate of Dr. Sulleyman Ndanusa, chairman of the SEC, however announced the sack of Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Femi Thomas, replacing him with Olufemi Akingbade, in acting capacity.
