As part of its efforts to continually enable workers in the building industry achieve better delivery in Dangote Cement Plc has donated work tools to a huge number of artisans in Lagos State.
Dangote Cement as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) project donated shovels, plastic tables and chairs as well as beach umbrellas to the artisans who gather at the Unity Road Junction, in Lagos waiting to be hired by contractors. They included bricklayers, plumbers, block moulders, concrete mixers and loaders.
The regional director, Marketing Services of Dangote Cement, Johnson Olaniyi, who led the team told the artisans that the management of the cement company having seeing their plight of staying and waiting under the elements for people to hire their services decided to provide them comfortable and branded beach umbrellas.
He said the protecting beach umbrellas will shield them from the sun as well as rain while the tables and chairs are to make the artisans feel comfortable while waiting.
He explained that the shovels are for the use of the artisans so they that they wont be paying money to have such work tools while going to construction sites.
Olaniyi explained that Dangote Cement values the artisans, whom he said constitute a vital link in the use of cement and the building industry.
He stressed that the visit and donation is the beginning of a rewarding partnership between the artisans and Dangote Cement promising that are plans to roll out more incentives.
Responding, chairman of the artisans, Dauda Lawal commended Dangote Cement for coming to their aid without invitation or pleading, saying that the gifts proved that the cement company always think of its people who promote and use its products. He promised that his members will use the tools and remain faithful to Dangote Cement.
He stated that his members will no longer sit under the sun or rain while waiting for people to hire them.
